On This Page   Massage for Moms of Babies, Moms of Older Kids, and Pre-Natal

MOMS OF BABIES AND  PRE SCHOOL AGE KIDS

When babies are born the are issued a brochure from the American Pediatric Society,.  The first guideline is:  Whenever your mother plans anything that does not involve taking you along, consider this a direct threat to your well being. You can:  throw a yelling tantrum,  or cry with that guilt-producing ' how can you leave me?' look, or cling to her leg as she limps to the door.  If none of that works, pull out all the stops and produce a big poop because you know she isn't going to leave you for someone else to change that.

So Mom of little ones, don't worry if your massage appointment falls into the flex zone.  I get it.  And....if you need to bring an infant along we can try.  Usually, mom feeds them and they get the vibe and go to sleep.

CELL PHONE

If you want to leave your cell on during the massage that's fine. I'll hand it to you if it goes off. Or, you could give your child-care person my number and I'll leave my cell on silent and be able to see it light up.

GERMS AND SUCH

If you are dealing with sick kids at home or you are on the verge of getting sick yourself, let me know and I'll wear a mask. Nix if it's Covid.

MASSAGE CAN HELP WITH THE DAILY STRESS OF CARING FOR LITTLE ONES

There are a lot of aches and pains associated with child care that women tend to downplay.  Wrangling babies and toddlers, picking up toys and pacifiers while holding baby in one arm, and of course, the wrenching twists and turns you put your back through while dealing with car seats and hauling strollers in and out of the car, or picking up a tantruming toddler.  You're exhausted just reading about it, aren't you?

Massage gives your body a chance to rest, relax and tame the muscle strain.

MOMS OF OLDER KIDS

You're running around, shuffling schedules, getting them to sports, making sure they do their homework and stay healthy. Give yourself a break.  A one hour massage with Aromatherapy puts you in a stress-free zone separated from the hectic daily routine.

PRE-NATAL MASSAGE

I love doing Pre-Natal Massage after the first trimester.

I learned in classes in pre-natal massage that there is no physical reason to avoid massage in first trimester but because there is a 25 percent chance of miscarriage in general, moms tend to blame the massage if they miscarry.

Better safe than sorry, so I don't massage in the first trimester.  After that, I use the traditional techniques of bolstering mom with pillows to be comfortable on the table, and I give a moderate pressure, relaxing massage. It not only helps with the physical, but with anxiety that pregnancy can bring.  With the mothers I've done pregnancy massage with,  we are sure that the baby recognizes my touch when they're out.

I am happy to give you a free ten minute massage to see if we're a good fit.  Massage is a personal treatment and you need to feel completely safe with who is working on you.
